Birds fall from the sky at Arkansas

An estimated 2,000 red-winged blackbirds that fell dead from the sky has been picked up by Environmental service workers in a central Arkansas town.

Mike Robertson, the mayor is looking at natural illness or poisoning caused the said phenomena. "That pretty much rules out an illness" or poisoning, the mayor said.

Based on Huffingtonpost, the birds started to fall Friday night over a 1-mile area of Beebe. The city government immediately hired about 12 to 15 workers to do the cleaning while U.S. Environmental Services started the cleanup Saturday.

Meanwhile, Karen Rowe, ornithologist from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission ornithologist said Saturday that the birds showed physical trauma and speculated that "the flock could have been hit by lightning or high-altitude hail."
